"New York, Susquehanna & Western Railroad in New
Jersey"
Book
Originally incorporated in 1881, the New York,
Susquehanna & Western Railroad has had a long history in
New Jersey. The railroad expanded by the early 1890s
into the thriving Pennsylvania coalfields and eventually
grew to over 200 miles of trackage in the northern
portion of New Jersey. Always viewed as an underdog in a
marketplace surrounded by much larger railroads, the New
York, Susquehanna & Western emerged from 40 years of
Erie Railroad control; survived several bankruptcies,
reorganizations, abandonments, and retrenchments through
innovative passenger and freight service offerings; and
transformed into today's regional rail carrier with a
size far greater than ever imagined. Noted author,
historian and Maywood Station Historical Committee president Edward S.
Kaminski has assembled a wealth of images, most of which
have never appeared in print, showcasing the history of
the original lines served by the New York, Susquehanna &
Western Railroad. The 128-page book
published by Arcadia Publishing
Company
is illustrated with
over 200 quality photographs with detailed captions.
"New York, Susquehanna & Western Railroad in New Jersey"
will provide the reader with a visual journey into this
historic railroad's past.
Books are available for $22.00 each at the Maywood
Station Museum on Museum Open House dates and by mail

In 1991, the New York,

Kranefeld to commemorate the NYS&W's participation with other
railroads in their
newly inaugurated coast-to-coast double-stack container train service. The
limited-edition painting features a rendition of New York City's
World Trade Center and Seattle's famous Space Needle with a
double-stack
container train led by two of the NYS&W's latest General
Electric B40-8 locomotives. Each lithograph print measures 13-1/2" X
18" and is signed, numbered and dated by the artist. A
total of only 250 lithograph prints were originally signed and
numbered by
the artist. The colorful lithograph prints are available for $35.00 each
