In May 2005, the Maywood Station Historical Committee sponsored a Children's Drawing Contest open to all Maywood children with one winner each in the Kindergarten through 3rd grades and 4th through 8th grades. The theme was Maywood Station or the New York, Susquehanna & Western Railroad - past or present. 2nd grader Taryn McManus won the Kindergarten through 3rd grade category with this drawing of Maywood Station. Taryn's entry also featured animation with a small train that could be pushed back and forth across the front of the drawing. |

In the Maywood Station Historical Committee's 2005 Children's Drawing Contest, 5th grader Brett Rivera won the 4th through 8th grade category with this drawing of a modern New York, Susquehanna & Western diesel locomotive. Brett showed originality by drawing a detailed "nose view". |

The September 28, 2005 MSHC Membership Meeting featured a special slideshow by noted photographer and railroad historian Walter E. Zullig, Jr. Walter lived in Maywood from 1941 to 1962 and treated MSHC members to a great selection of his slides of Maywood and the surrounding area taken during the 1950's through 1970's. On Sunday, October 16, 2005, the towns of Maywood and Rochelle Park combined to host "A Day in the Park" Hurricane Relief Fundraiser at Memorial Park in Maywood to benefit Greenbrier Elementary School in Baton Rouge, LA. The MSHC participated in the event by holding raffles for Maywood Station models and assisting Park Ave BMW of Maywood by raffling a BMW Child's car. On December 17, 2005, the MSHC hosted its 4th Annual Santa at Maywood Station. The MSHC held its first "Santa at Maywood Station" in 2002 with 62 parents and children attending while the station restoration was ongoing. On June 20, 2006, Vanity Fair Magazine contracted the MSHC to use Maywood Station for a photo shoot of up-and-coming Grammy winning or Grammy nominated "alternative country" musicians. The feature appeared in their November 2006 issue. At the November 12, 2006 Maywood Station Museum Open House, a special exhibit was shown centering on the life of D. Wesley "Wes" Hoag who resided in Maywood most of life from 1895 to 1970. His family gracious donated many artifacts from his 45-year career as an engineer on the NYS&W Railroad and his 40-years volunteering at Peerless Company of the Maywood Fire Department as well as several other civic organizations. At the June 13, 2007 MSHC Membership Meeting, Frank Lichtenberger was presented a Certificate of Appreciation for his assistance in the Maywood Station restoration and preservation. Frank spent over 6 months performing wood working to make two exact replicas of the original 1872 Maywood Station roof finials. He also has been instrumental in bringing the Maywood Fire Department's meticulously restored 1938 Ahrens-Fox fire engine to several Maywood Station Museum Open Houses.
